Habitat for Humanity rests on the shoulders of volunteers. Habitat would not exist if people of good will were not willing to invest the most precious thing they possess: their time and their talents.

-Tom Hall, pastor and former Habitat for Humanity International Staff Member

Habitat is a partnership. It’s not somebody up here helping somebody down there. It’s somebody reaching out a hand and saying “Let’s work together.”  -Jimmy Carter, Habitat’s most famous volunteer

 Volunteering FAQs

  • How do I start volunteering? That’s simple! Just contact Albert Cabrera at 386-257-9950 or ACabrera@HabitatGVC.org to get the process started. You can also download our Volunteer Application HERE.

  • Can I send my completed Volunteer Application by email?  We require the original signed copy of the Volunteer Application for our records. Applications can be mailed to or dropped off at our administrative office:
Habitat for Humanity of GVC, 1030 W. International Speedway Blvd., 2nd Floor, Daytona Beach, FL 32114

  • Do you need construction experience to work at the construction site? We do not require previous experience! We welcome volunteers of all skill levels to our sites. All volunteer days start with a safety orientation and instructions for completing the day’s tasks. If you do have construction experience (carpentry, tile work, dry-walling, etc.), we encourage you to notify the site supervisor.

  • How many people can be in my group? We can accommodate up to 8-10 group members at one construction site.

  • Do I have to be part of a group? No! We welcome individuals as well as groups at both our construction sites and our ReStore.

  • Do I need to bring my own tools? Don’t worry, we provide all the tools and safety equipment you will need!

  • Do I need to bring water or snack? Habitat will provide water and snacks throughout the day but you are also welcome to bring your own beverages and foods.

  • Can my child volunteer? Minors 16 years-old or older are welcome at the site with the provision of a Minor Release form and accompanied by a parent or guardian. However, Minors cannot use power tools so check with the Volunteer Manager to be sure the tasks are age-appropriate when signing up for a site.
